Amy Showalter, grassroots productivity expert, helps government relations professionals, grassroots advocates and PAC members reach their full potential. Amy has galvanized thousands of grassroots advocates and staff for her clients who want to advance their cause politically. For nine years she directed the efforts of the highly acclaimed Nationwide Insurance Civic Action Program (CAP). During her tenure, over 2,000 government relations professionals across the country ranked Nationwide's program as one of the top two corporate grassroots programs in the country. (Ed Grefe and Martin Linsky, The New Corporate Activism)

She delivers results-oriented workshops, keynotes, and consulting services for national trade associations, national non-profit organizations, and Fortune 500 companies. She has revitalized programs at Southwest Airlines, The American Heart Association, The International Dairy Foods Association, Dow Chemical Company, and New York Life Insurance, to name a few. Her proprietary research provides clients with the latest applications that improve their grassroots and PAC results.

Amy has a BA in Political Science from Wright State University and a Masters Degree in Human Resources Administration from Central Michigan University. She and her husband, Randy Boyer, coexist with their three Siberian huskies in the greater Cincinnati area.

Kelton Rhoads, PhD krhoads@showaltergroup.com

"Your influence training for our campaign staff during the 2000 election year cycle was an important part of our grassroots program. The techniques we utilized in door to door and phone communications were highly successful. I believe that your influence techniques not only better prepared our volunteers, but also resulted in a maximum turnout for our candidates on election day. I would not hesitate to use your techniques in the future and highly recommend your training as a cornerstone component of any grassroots campaign program."

-- Tim Rosales, Campaign Consultant

After studying and practicing persuasion as an art for years--as a grantwriter, a public relations officer, and a director of marketing and communications--Kelton became increasingly dissatisfied with intuitive approaches to persuasion, and the guesswork utilized by most persuasive "experts." Seeking a verifiable source of evidence and fact regarding what causes people to change their behaviors, he pursued a doctorate in Social Psychology, specializing in persuasion and compliance.

He is now an influence consultant based in Los Angeles, California. He has provided training, consulting, and presentations for industry, government and defense agencies, political candidates, credit and banking firms, non-profit philanthropic organizations, educational agencies, public relations firms, and a number of medical entities, helping people apply the principles of influence to real-world situations. His work has been published in a variety of scholarly and popular journals on topics relating to persuasion. He has given radio interviews on the subject, and has received print and TV advertising awards.

Kelton partners with Amy to provide influence training workshops. All training workshops are customized based on the clients most challenging influence situations. This includes, but is not limited to, direct lobbying, grassroots and PAC participation, senior management support of government affairs, and increasing the cooperation of coalition members.

Using the latest peer-reviewed research on the science of human behavior, Amy and Kelton also audit written and electronic advocacy materials (Influence Quotient) to make your advocates more likely to respond to your requests for action.

Rhoads has taught communications, statistics, psychology, and English at the university level, and currently serves as an adjunct professor at U.S.C.´s Psychology Department and The Annenberg School for Communication. Rhoads completed his doctorate in Social Psychology at Arizona State University in 1998. Previously, he received a master's degree in English from Loma Linda University, and obtained a baccalaureate degree in History from Pacific Union College.

"Your briefing on influence was regarded as one of the best presentations in the course . . . students rated your presentation very highly. You received the highest marks pretty much across the board. Clearly your presentation was the highlight of the course for many students. The students appreciated your expertise of the subject matter and the unique information that you presented."

--Captain John Elshaw, USAF Special Forces University
